For the first time in Al-Azhar’s history in Egypt, the Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh, Ahmed al-Tayeb has appointed a female advisor, Egypt Independent reports.
Tayeb appointed professor Nahla Saeidi as an advisor to Al-Azhar grand sheikh for expatriate affairs.
Professor Saeidi also heads the Education Development Center for Al-Azhar International Students.
The professor reportedly said her appointment as an advisor to Al-Azhar grand sheikh was a big responsibility and an honour at the same time.
Professor Saeidi has been working on the file of expatriate students with Al-Azhar, through the Development Center for Al-Azhar International Students, since 2015.
The centre receives considerable support from Al-Azhar grand sheikh and its system has been comprehensively developed in terms of infrastructure, curricula and teachers since its inauguration, she said.
