On October 8, the wave of protests from community groups, workers, academics, students and activists against the legalisation of the ‘Omnibus Law on Job Creation Bill’ reached its peak. The omnibus law demonstration was held in Jakarta and major cities across Indonesia. Protesters called for a ‘motion of no confidence’ against the central government and the Indonesian Parliament (DPR) for betraying the people with regulations benefiting entrepreneurs and investors but not the people and the working class.

Crowds from across the regions united to express their disappointment in the parliament and Joko Widodo’s administration for legalising the Omnibus Law. Demonstrators have reportedly rallied since the October 5 ratification of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation Bill and demanded the state to revoke a regulation considered to be detrimental to the people.
