The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) Sajid Hussain Turi has announced that Pakistan - with the cooperation of Saudi Arabia - would establish a technical and vocational university for Overseas Pakistanis, Associated Press of Pakistan reports.

The minister said that Saudi Arabia is home to around 2.3 million Pakistanis who have worked and lived there long-term. Turi reiterated that Overseas Pakistanis were playing a vital role in the development of Pakistan and therefore the development of the welfare of Pakistanis is paramount and is a priority of the present government.

The minister was addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Ilford, in the UK, where the Pakistan Peoples Party UK Chapter was reportedly hosting a dinner and discussion with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi and ex-Governor Shoulatullah (KPK).

The meeting was attended by prominent UK PPP leaders and the minister informed them about the stances the party was taking with the Pakistan Peoples Party chairman’s support to deliver innovative policies for overseas Pakistanis.

Turi added that, with the collaboration of OPF, a facilitation desk would be established in order to resolve the problems of Pakistanis and their dependents.

He said that overseas Pakistanis would not be deprived of voting rights and reassured the audience that a new plan is being created where constituents will be selected to represent them in Parliament.

Turi also discussed the importance of trade, the implementation of cross-border trade, and the delivery of maximum employment opportunities for Pakistanis.
