This course is aimed at those Payroll & HR Professionals who are processing or managing Vendors who process Payrolls in Kenya and need to have an understanding of the legislative and legal requirements involved.

What will be covered?

Country Overview:

Kenya is a country in East Africa with a coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses Savannah Lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley and Mountain Highlands. The main engine of economic growth, currency, and tax year dates is provides a fundamental introduction to the Kenya payroll compliance.

Hours of Work:

The working hour regulations are explored with calculation examples for Overtime and working on a Sunday or a Public Holiday.

Leave:

The minimum leave requirements that an employee is entitled to and the payment employees should receive whilst on leave is explained.

Statutory Contributions:

PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, NITA are just a few examples of statutory funds that employees and or employers must contribute towards. The purpose and calculation for the statutory contributions are analysed.

Statutory Reports:

Employers should be informed about the monthly, quarterly and annual statutory reports that must be submitted. The submission timelines and methods are very important.

Tax Calculation:

A basic Kenya payroll tax calculation is pursued to understand the taxable parameters.
