In Libya, members of the country’s Oil Facilities Guard have abandoned the Mellitah oil and gas complex following raids to protest their wages and working conditions, Nova News reports.

The oil guards reopened the valve on the line connecting the facility to the Wafa gas field, a key step for Libyan gas exports to Italy.

Moatasem Mustafa - a member of the Libyan armed group - reportedly announced the move in a statement to the information website Fawasel Media.

On February 25, Oil Facility Guards raided oil and gas facilities - including Mellitah - to protest the failure to meet their demands over wages and working conditions.

That evening, Abdulhamid Dabaiba - Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GUN, based in Tripoli) - issued a decision that the salaries of the guards of the oil facilities would be reviewed, following the salary plan provided for army employees.
