[Hungary] Minimum wage increase boosts benefits

As a result of the substantial increase in Hungary’s mandatory minimum wage, the related benefits have also increased significantly since January 2022, Budapest Business Journal reports.

State Secretary for Employment Policy Sándor Bodó - from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) - emphasised the knock-on effect of the minimum wage rise in recent comments, according to novekedes.hu.

The state secretary explained that several benefits and subsidies are linked to the guaranteed minimum wage.

Hungary’s mandatory minimum wage rose by nearly a fifth in the new year, three times the 2009 level.

With the increase, the gross monthly salary of public employment increased to HUF 100,000 and the maximum amount of the job-search allowance to HUF 200,000 per month.
