20 Aug 2021

In Bangladesh the passport complications faced by US expatriates have now come to an end, risingbd.com reports.

In Dhaka, 1,101 passports have already been printed of the 1,364 processed applications from the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC after ongoing challenges with the complexity of passport printing were resolved.

According to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, the passports will immediately be delivered to the embassy via FedEx.

The applications were sent to the Immigration and Passport Department in Dhaka between June 21 and August 12.

Ferdousi Shahriar - Deputy Chief of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy - praised the efforts of the Immigration and Passport Department officials in resolving the issue of issuing passports to expatriates in the United States.

The government is moving towards providing e-passports to applicants rather than conventional machine-readable passports.

As part of this drive, a delegation led by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and officials from the Department of Immigration and Passports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will soon visit the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC and the Consulates General in New York and Los Angeles.
