14 Jul 2020

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training organised and hosted a soft skills training event attended by nearly 2,000 workers from five factories in Bavet town. The course is intended to increase productivity and efficiency and prepare workers for getting new jobs in the future. Such courses also help aid workplace communication for better working relationships.

Soft skills training is a requirement that workers must complete in order to qualify for government subsidies. The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bavet Town suspended production so 1,848 workers from five factories could take part. The course also covered occupational health and safety with specific safeguards against COVID-19. Phnom Penh Post reports on the initiative with feedback from attendees, union representatives and ministry officials.
