Japan has announced an agreement with Brunei and Singapore to reopen borders for newly arriving expatriates and other long-term residents from October 8 and September 30 respectively. According to Japan’s Foreign Ministry, eligible travellers will be admitted on the condition that they self-isolate for 14 days following entry to the country as a COVID-19 precaution.
The two South-East Asian countries join Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam as regions with which Tokyo has established a travel corridor for long-term residents. At present Japan bans, in principle, the entry of foreigners from 159 countries and regions.
