First Global Payroll Awards takes place at the Tower of London
04 Dec 2017

The international payroll industry came together at the historic Tower of London on 26 May 2016 for the first ever Global Payroll Association Awards in order to celebrate the achievements of payroll professionals.

The glamorous, black-tie ceremony was hosted in the White Tower by the Global Payroll Association (GPA), which offers a ‘one stop shop’ to payroll and HR professionals. It was sponsored by Frontier Software.

Around 180 guests and nominees attended from as far afield as the USA, India, South Africa, Europe and the Nordic countries. The venue is steeped in history: it was the place where the Princes in the Tower were imprisoned before they mysteriously disappeared in the 15th century. The ceremony reflected the venue’s heritage with traditional yeomen, a toastmaster and trumpeters.

A number of payroll industry awards were presented throughout the evening recognising the work of payroll’s high achievers, including global payroll managers, software suppliers, in-country providers and expatriate teams. A special Judges Award for outstanding achievement went to Bond Payroll Services for their high standard of services. A full list of Global Payroll Award winners and judges can be found at www.globalpayrollawards.com.

Melanie Pizzey, CEO of the GPA and event’s host, said: “The GPA is honoured that over 180 people from the world’s payroll industry, as well as in-country providers, could join us to make the first Global Payroll Awards a resounding success. Our payroll professionals, from consultants to suppliers and in-house teams, had the opportunity to gather and celebrate the industry as a whole and champion the innovative and crucial work of our global payrollers.”

A date has already been set for next year’s event, which will take place on 8 June 2017 in Amsterdam and will again be sponsored by Frontier Software.

Michael Howard, managing director of Frontier Software PLC said “Frontier Software is proud to be the main sponsor at the inaugural Global Payroll Awards. This event gave delegates the opportunity to understand what a global payroll system could be and the many options available to the customer by Frontier Software and other vendors.”
