The Indian embassy in Doha has warned job-seekers to stay alert to fake recruitment agents, The Free Press Journal reports.
The embassy posted advice to Indian job-seekers on its Twitter account. The post reportedly said, “Please do not trust any recruiting agent who promises you a job in Qatar on a business/visit visa.”
In order to assure those in search of work that an agent is legitimate a request for ID was advised The embassy’s post continued, “Always ask for a copy of the agent’s Qatar ID and save it carefully, so that the Embassy can help you better, in the event of any fraud.”
“Before an Indian worker accepts employment from a Foreign Employer/Company, it would be safer to check their credentials on the e-Migrate portal, POE Offices or by emailing the Indian Embassy in the country concerned,” it concluded.
There are around 691,000 Indian nationals in Qatar. Making them the biggest expatriate community in the country. Indian Nationals work in roles across a number of professions, including the media, education, medicine, engineering, finance, banking, business and labour.
