[UK] Health and Safety News
23 Sep 2019

As we have said before, employers have to keep on top of many things, not only payroll, pensions and HR news, changes and updates.  It is also vital that employers keep on top of health and safety issues as well.

So we would like to point readers again to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) free news and updates service.  Employer can subscribe and receive weekly updates.  As an example, some of the latest update included articles on the following topics:

  • A chemical company is fined after falling from a ladder
  • A tree services company director fined after a worker suffered an amputation at work
  • A landscaping former company director fined for safety breaches after a worker was impaled on a spike
  • A fitter prosecuted after carrying out defective gas work (and not being gas safe registered)

There is also the health and safety bulletins email alert service where employers can subscribe and receive updates that will allow employers to keep up to date with failures in equipment, process, procedures and substances.

We appreciate that health and safety might not be the role of the payroll professional so encourage that this information is passed onto the relevant person in the organisation.
