Employers have to keep on top of many things, not only payroll, pensions and HR news, changes and updates.  One of the things that the Global Payroll Association has not mentioned before is the vital importance of keeping on top of health and safety issues.

So we would like to point readers to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) free news and updates service.  Employer can subscribe and receive weekly updates.  As an example, the latest update included articles on the following topics:

  • A safety alert for operators of steam systems
  • News of a construction company being fined for multiple safety failings on site
  • An update on how the HSE showing their display screen equipment (DSE) guidance online
  • The HSE health and safety tool box entitled “How to control risks at work” which applies to all worklplaces

There is also the health and safety bulletins email alert service where employers can subscribe and receive updates that will allow employers to keep up to date with failures in equipment, process, procedures and substances.  We appreciate this might not be the role of the payroll professional so encourage that this information is passed onto the relevant person in the organisation.
