HMRC have recently produced two documents that will be of interest to the payroll and agent professions:
Employer Bulletin
HMRC publicise this as the “route to the latest payroll news” and the June edition contains the following useful articles:
- A reminder of the P11D and P11D(b) filing deadlines and sources of information about completion of both
- An announcement that the National Insurance and Statutory Payments toolkits have been updated recently as well as the Expenses and Benefits toolkit
- An update on “Dynamic Coding” where HMRC have introduced a new trigger to check that employers are operating the tax code that HMRC have issued
- A reminder about Student and Postgraduate Loan notices together with links about More Frequent Data Sharing between HMRC and the SLC
- An apology for confusion about the publication of list 3 where HMRC forgot to publish the associate names in March 2019. The Global Payroll Association has already updated the profession on this confusion in a previous newsletter but it is good to see the apology from HMRC
- Information about how to obtain a National Insurance number both for the individual and the employer
The Employer Bulletin is always worth reading and subscribing to so that it is sent straight to your email when it is published every 2 months.
Agent Update
The Agent Update provides some of the news from the Employer Bulletin but it is directed at agents as well as payroll professionals. The June issue therefore supplements and expands on the Employer Bulletin and the Global Payroll Association recommends that this is also a document that employers should subscribe to.
June’s edition contains some useful information for employers and individuals about EU Exit / Brexit and the importance of EU citizens applying to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS). This is an individual responsibility but employers may want or choose to pass this information onto the staff that will be impacted when the UK leaves the EU.
