The April edition of this newsletter (issue 109) is published by HMRC’s Pension Schemes Services to update administrators on the latest news for pension schemes.  Issued on the 30th of April 2019, it has articles on:

 

  • The pension flexibility statistics for the period from the 1st of January 2019 to the 31st of March 2019
  • The 2018/19 new pension scheme registration statistics showing a 23% reduction to applications received in 2017/18
  • Information about the “managing pension schemes service” including the new features added and reporting through the service
  • Confirmation of the relief at source (RAS) rates for Scottish taxpayers in 2019/20
  • A reminder that administrators are only required to submit a pension scheme return (PSR) for a pension scheme if they have received a notice to file a PSR from HMRC
  • Information about 2 different regulations that have been made and laid which concern the Repayment of Overseas Transfer Charge
  • Information about the “window” for existing Master Trusts applying to the Pensions Regulator (TPR) for authorisation which closed on the 31st of March 2019. There is also a link for new schemes applying for TPR authorisation 
  • Confirmation that the ROPS (recognised overseas pension scheme) list was published by mistake on the 25th of April 2029 rather than the 1st of May 2019. As such, there will be no update on the 1st of May 2019 with the next one being schedules for the 15th of May 2019
