[UK] Health and Safety Duties Now We Have Left the EU
10 Feb 2020

We are sure that nobody can have failed to notice that from the 1st of February 2020 the UK is no longer a member of the European Union.  But we are in a “transition period” until the end of 2020 whilst talks take place with the EU about the future relationship between us.

Employers should note that during the transition period that there is a continued requirement to manage risk in the workplace and this has not changed.  In their latest bulletin, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) stress that good health and safety is good for business and they can help organisations to manage risk well and proportionately.  This helps maintain standards and keeps people healthy and safe.

The Global Payroll Association wants to point out that their “Health and Safety made simple” guidance is still appropriate and should be read.  Importantly, we want to use our newsletter to point to their Brexit page which in turn links to the Brexit guidance on gov.uk.

We suggest that more than ever, employers should subscribe for free email newsletters and notifications from the HSE.  These provide news and updates on a wide range of health and safety topics and industries.
