[Jordan] From December unvaccinated expats will be deported

Jordan’s Interior Ministry has announced that strict measures will be taken against expatriates who choose not to receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, The Sun Daily reports.

In a statement on October 30, the ministry announced that unvaccinated expatriates will be deported from December 15, according to reporting from the Jordan news agency (Petra).

“The decision comes with the aim of protecting public health,“ the ministry announcement said. The statement emphasised that prompting expatriates to get vaccinated protects them against future infection and from transmitting the disease to others.

Expatriates are allowed to obtain the vaccine for free and are not required to present a residence permit or a work permit when they attend vaccine centres.
