In Kuwait, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced the termination of employment for more than 800 expatriates. The affected individuals have been given one month to conclude their employment tenure, The Siasat Daily reports.
According to local media reporting, the majority of terminated employees were from Arab nations.
This decision is reportedly in line with the direction of the government’s current policies and the state’s plan to implement its policy of replacing expatriates with Kuwaitis, Kuwait Times reported.
Kuwait has intensified efforts to create job opportunities for its citizens, in recent years, and to replace foreign employees as part of a policy dubbed “Kuwaitization.”
Expatriates make up approximately 3.4 million of Kuwait’s total 4.6 million population.
