[Oman] Expats replaced by citizens in more than 10,000 working roles

According to coverage on Oman TV, more than 10,000 citizens were employed in the government and private sectors in the first quarter of this year, Zawya reports.

10,017 male and female citizen workers were employed in the government and private sectors in the first three months of 2022, replacing the expatriate workers who were previously holding these positions as part of the country’s Omanisation.

Omanisation is a policy enacted by the government of Oman in 1988 aimed at replacing expatriate workers with trained Omani personnel. The Sultanate of Oman sets quotas for various industries to reach in terms of the percentage of Omani to foreign workers.

Oman TV reported that the 10,017 male and female citizens were employed in the government and private sectors in the first quarter of this year as part of the target of 35,000 jobs for 2022.
