Several diplomats in Qatar have commended the country’s efforts to protect the interests of expatriates. The Ambassadors welcomed the announcement of a non-discriminatory minimum wage and removal of the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) requirement to change jobs for employees in Qatar. They said the new law will benefit the migrant workers.

Alessandro Prunas - Ambassador of Italy to Qatar - reportedly welcomed the major new labour legislation saying it was part of broader historical reform. While Deepak Mittal - Ambassador of India to Qatar - highlighted the increase of the minimum wage and the easing of lateral movement of immigrant workers and pledged to continue protecting Indian workers on the country. The Peninsula reports the ambassadors’ comments in greater depth.
