Following the kingdom’s decision to close its borders to a number of countries due to the global surge in COVID-19 cases linked to variants in Britain, South Africa and Brazil earlier in the year, Saudi Arabia has announced that it will lift the entry ban on expatriates from six countries, including Egypt, starting from December 1, Cairo Scene reports.
Fully vaccinated travellers from Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Vietnam will be allowed direct entry once again.
However, regardless of their vaccination status, these travellers will have to spend a mandatory five days in quarantine following their arrival.
The lifting of the ban will open the door for the one million and six hundred thousand Egyptian workers based in Saudi Arabia to recommence their work in the kingdom.
