[US] Tech salaries failed to keep up with inflation in 2024

New data has revealed that salaries for IT workers in the US rose just 1.2 per cent in 2024, representing another year of poor growth for tech pay, CIO Dive reports.

According to Dice data, the average tech worker earned $112,500 in 2024.  The company surveyed more than 2,800 technology workers for the report. 

Dice also found that tech workers with AI expertise saw an 18 per cent salary boost above their counterparts.

With such meagre wage rises, IT professionals are reportedly more open to new opportunities. Nearly half of employed tech professionals said they actively sought new positions in 2024, a considerable rise from 2023 when the figure was 29 per cent.
